I’m going to be honest…I absolutely love this time of the year! However, at the end of it all, I’m not disappointed. It’s nice to get back to normal and breathe a little in January. And each year on January 1st, I say the same thing: “Next year, we need to try to do less so we can experience more.” If you’re into cooking for a bunch of people, I give you credit. Many love to host and those that love to host, love to cook! Here are some tips on keeping your family and friends jolly while keeping your sanity at the same time:
- Start Trying New Recipes…Now:
- We all try to bring out the best recipes for the holidays. For most of us, that means something new. Yet, some of these recipes call for ingredients and methods we are not familiar with. Start experimenting with these recipes before the big day!
- Create a Timeline
- Creating a timeline will keep you on point through your cooking process. Start at eating time and work backwards. It will give you a better idea of when to cook the specific foods.
- Oven and Burners
- Mix your dishes up between both the oven and stove top burners. If your entire menu is oven cooked items, you might find yourself overheating on the big day. Space both of them out
- Invest in a Warmer
- Putting your dish in a warming tray like a chafing dish or cambro can save a lot of time and energy. That way you don’t have to be Wolfgang Puck and have all the items come out at the same time
- Cook in Disposable Aluminum Pans
- How many times have you cooked an item in a pan, then transferred it to a better looking pan? Two pans to clean at the end of the party is what happens. Disposable Aluminum Pans can do the same thing with less mess. Cook the item in those, then transfer to your Holiday Platters
- Buy a Good Thermometer
- We like Thermoworks thermometers. They’re not cheap, but it’ll be the last thermometer you ever purchase.
- Keep a Good Glass of Wine Handy!
- Cooking is supposed to be fun. Not stressful. Keep that glass near as a reminder of this!
