Football Revisted

Read up on some football facts below before attending the Super Bowl viewing party!

1. How did Football ever come to be?  In 1869, Rutgers and Princeton played a game that was a jumble of soccer and rugby.  They called it Football because the length of the ball is one foot long (1’).
2. Who is the Lombardi Trophy named after?  Vince Lombardi was the legendary Green Bay Packers coach that won five NFL Championships and two Super Bowls (the first two).  He is noted as one of the all time greatest NFL coaches.
3. Football has some amazing games on TV!  Yep, The NFL introduced Flex Scheduling back in 2005 and it has brought millions more viewers to the sport.  Basically, the NFL and the networks (Fox, CBS, NBC, etc) get to choose games per week that will be showcased on their most viewed time slots.  For example, Sunday night at 5 pm is a largely viewed time slot.  The best game of the week will be put into this time slot.
4. Why is there is a missing Jet during the pregame “fly over”? You might have seen formation of four planes fly over before the start of a game.  One in front, two behind and one at the end.  There is a missing plane on one side in honor of a fallen soldier.  It’s a great reminder of the ultimate sacrifice our soldiers have given.
5. Which player has the most Super Bowl Rings?  You will see him as an analyst covering the game.  He’s a household favorite, Tom Brady, with SEVEN rings!
6. What is the most consumed snack during Super Bowl?  Chips at 14,500 tons!
7. Show me the money!  Each winning player of the Super Bowl will receive a $171,000 bonus.  Each losing player of the SB will receive $96,000 bonus.  Win or lose…these aren’t bad bonuses!
8. When will the Super Bowl be played in Los Angeles next? At Super Bowl LXI in February 2027!  This is going to be a great event in our city, held at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood. This will be the 9^th time the Super Bowl has been held in the greater Los Angeles area and the second time held at Sofi Stadium (the first being Super Bowl LVI in 2022).
